Being a multi-disciplinary artist has been both a choice and a necessity. My creative practice cultivates pure and unbounded self-discovery - detached from expectations or predetermined paths. I see myself as a scientist engaging in glorious experimentation, by researching, assimilating and integrating new techniques. This multi angular reach has given me a unique richness of approach to my artistic needs, a balanced dance between control and trust in the flow of things. Everything pushed to the extreme or excess leads to horror, solitude, loyalty and obsession. Life is weaved with inexplicable violence from conception to decomposition. I interrogate the terrors of irredeemable change, so far astray that they can no longer be considered natural. Art is the only tool at my disposal that allows me to explore the conditions of existence. Scary stories from fables to Lovecraftian dramas are a warning, a teaching of consequences. Nature is the most unforgiving force above all else. I have always been guided by powerful voices. Thanks to Hitchcock and David Lynch, I made films about human corruption and the defiance of morality. I see my illustrations in conversation with the works of Geof Darrow and Saul Bass. Through James Lord’s book: A Giacometti Portrait, I learned the depth of praxis in portraiture. Antonio Gaudi and Frank Lloyd Wright have challenged my perspective of the organic in graphic design. The creation of cryptids has been my most recent obsession, approaching my ideas with a more biodiverse scientific lens. This exercise has placed me in lock-step with Nature’s creativity, mixing and twisting the capacity of animals to unusual conditions.
